Total body irradiation (TBI) is a radiation therapy technique that involves exposing the entire body to ionizing radiation to prepare patients for bone marrow transplantation or to treat certain cancers. Initially, delivered using specialty technology and techniques, its accessibility was limited to only a few major cancer centers. With advances in technology, TBI delivery has become more precise and easier to adopt and is now available at many cancer treatment centers across Canada.
