Administration of Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) for Psychiatric Disorders

Administration of Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) for Psychiatric Disorders

rTMS is the application of short, rapidly changing magnetic pulses to the brain. rTMS is Health Canada approved for treating major depression and is being studied for other disorders. Due to the high probability that TMS will be covered by the provincial government in the near future, we predict there will be a sharp increase in the need for technicians to administer this novel treatment. As such, in collaboration with the University of Toronto, CAMH is offering a 3-week intensive training program to teach the administration of rTMS. Attendees will learn about evidence-based treatments for psychiatric disorders using rTMS, and they will receive substantial hands-on experience shadowing technicians and learning how to administer rTMS.
