Physical Principles of X-rays 1.75 Category A Credits, ASRT Approved

This continuing education course gives the imaging professional a better understanding of the physical principles of X-rays. Topics will include a general description of X-rays compared to other well-known rays, how X-rays can be generated and how they can be characterized with respect to their energy as well as behaviors and interaction of X-rays with matter. Conventional X-ray imaging is discussed with a focus on detector types and sources of noise. And, an overview of common applications within the imaging department, including fluoroscopy are briefly discussed.
