Racism in Healthcare – Ethics and Integrating Anti-Black Racist Practices in Healthcare

  1. The ethics of equity in patient care
  • Review the professional Code of Ethics that delineates responsible conduct and the ethical and moral behavior of MRITs
  • Understand that each MRIT is personally responsible for behaving according to the ethical principles of right, fair, good and just action
  • Consider their own responsibility to treat all patients equitably
  • Consider their own responsibility not to discriminate on any of the grounds set out in the Ontario Human Rights Code, including race, ancestry, and colour.

2. Integrating Anti-Black Racist Practices in Healthcare

  • Raise awareness about the barriers Black people face in the healthcare system and their impacts
  • Examine ways to intentionally practice anti-Black racism in one’s practice
