MRT Mental Health: A Call to Action

MRT Mental Health: A Call to Action

Presenter: Melissa Corrente, Research Associate, University of Ottawa

The pandemic highlighted many challenges that have existed in healthcare for decades such as heavy workloads, chronic stress and staffing shortages. Results from semi-structured interviews and a focus group will be shared in order to provide insights into the lived experiences of MRTs from across Canada. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the mental health best practice guidelines and understand how we can utilize data for advocacy purposes. We need your voice to help amplify what comes next and how we can create a sustainable environment for MRTs moving forward.

Learning Objectives:
– Understand the mental health implications of COVID-19 on the profession as a whole.
– Review and discuss the mental health best practice guidelines.
– Advocate for change by speaking up for resources that are timely, targeted and easily accessible for all MRTs.
– Reflect on what types of supports are needed for MRTs to be healthy, happy and safe at work.
